Redekop (Canada)

For over 25 years, the Canadian company Redekop has specialized exclusively in the production of agricultural machinery for crop residue management. The company achieved worldwide recognition thanks to its unique MAV chopper-spreader, a breakthrough product. Today, this chopper is sold worldwide and has become standard equipment on many combine harvester models across North America.

Innovative development for weed control:
Redekop SCU (Seed Control Unit™)

WEED SEED CONTROL SYSTEM

Weed control begins with harvesting
The Redekop SCU system effectively destroys weed seeds and any unwanted crops before they leave the combine harvester's chopper. This eliminates the need for additional soil treatments and significantly reduces herbicide use, while providing long-term benefits to the soil and reducing weed populations.
The SCU is a fully integrated part of the combine. Its unique chopper design eliminates up to 98% of weed seeds passing through the combine during harvesting. After passing through the SCU, the crushed weed seeds and chaff are mixed with the stream of crop residue ejected from the combine's chopper and distributed evenly across the entire width of the header.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

REDEKOP RENDER
  • The SCU system features two vertical-axis rotors rotating at 2,850 rpm. This accelerates the airflow containing the seeds to 400 km/h, passing it through a large number of metal plates installed inside each of the two crushing chambers.

  • After repeated impacts at high speed against metal plates inside the crushing chamber, the seeds become severely damaged, become sterile, and then end up in the straw stream that emerges from the combine's chopper and is evenly distributed across the entire width of the header.

Integration of the SCU system
The SCU is mounted on special chopper guides. This ensures maximum convenience and ease of access to all internal components at the rear of the combine. Upon exiting the SCU, the product flow is evenly mixed with the straw flow ejected from the combine chopper and effectively distributed across the entire width of the header.
Unique design of crushing apparatus
The unique and meticulously designed crusher chamber ensures the most efficient destruction of weed seeds while minimizing the combine's energy consumption. The crusher consists of two sections with rotating blades and three sections with fixed metal plates, ensuring maximum seed destruction. The internal components are made of ultra-strong steel with a tungsten carbide coating, ensuring a long service life and minimal operating costs.
Easy to turn the system on and off
The SCU can be quickly and easily turned on and off without the need for special tools or disconnecting the unit. Similar systems from competing companies operate continuously and require approximately 35 hp even when idling.
Mechanical drive
The reliable and proven mechanical drive system allows the SCU to be quickly and easily connected to the combine's drive system.
Integrated monitoring system
The SCU system can be controlled via a separate control unit or integrated into the combine's virtual terminal. The control system also allows for quick and convenient adjustment of the spreading width of chopped crop residue. The SCU system can be adapted to various modern combine models. Redekop Chopper
Problems arising from poor crop residue distribution often cannot be fully corrected by any expensive measures. If the header width is more than 9 meters, chopping and distributing crop residue with most factory-made shredders will be very problematic.
That is why the Canadian company Redekop presents to you an innovative chopper-spreader with MAV (Maximum Air Velocity) technology, capable of efficiently chopping and evenly spreading crop residues over a width of up to 12 meters.
The MAV shredder-spreader from Redekop will allow you to:
1
Prevent uneven emergence due to poor straw distribution
4
Avoid clogging of seed coulters with crop residues
Prevent oxidation and toxic effects on the soil from scattered chaff accumulations
2
Increase the effectiveness of chemical soil treatment by uniformly distributing moisture
3
The development of MAV technology has proven to be a true breakthrough in crop residue management. This revolutionary technology utilizes two zones for chopping and spreading.

Redecop shredder rotor
Straight-sharpened, double-sided blades cut straw into equal pieces.
The blades increase the air flow into the shredder, which in turn increases the spread radius.
The rotor blades can accelerate the air up to 250 km/h.
Feed Chopper
The first chopping zone of the MAV rotor features four rows of durable, carbide-coated blades, installed in pairs along the entire length of the rotor. To achieve optimal straw chopping,

The second zone is where a powerful air flow is created by unique blades. Specially designed shrouds quickly increase air velocity around six blades at the ends of the rotor. The MAV rotor generates ultra-high air speeds of up to 250 km/h to evenly distribute finely chopped straw and chaff behind the combine, achieving maximum productivity.

What are the consequences of uneven spreading of crop residues?

chaff rows
The problem of poor crop residue distribution is virtually impossible to completely remedy with any expensive methods. While coarsely chopped straw can be properly distributed with harrowing, chaff and finely chopped straw will remain where the chopper ejected it.
chaff trails
After harvesting oilseed crops, a huge amount of chaff remains in the field. Poor distribution of this chaff leads to severe soil acidification. This threatens uneven emergence and numerous problems with sowing the following year.
Uneven scattering of chaff and weed seeds results in dark green streaks, where the soil warms very slowly and moisture accumulates quickly. In addition to causing uneven emergence, this also negatively impacts the effectiveness of chemical soil treatments.
zero-till-seeding
Uneven distribution of crop residue often causes seed coulters to clog, limiting the seeder's maximum productivity. This is especially true in rainy regions.

Increase the productivity of your factory shredder

In addition to the ready-made MAV chipper solution, Redekop also offers its customers individual knife kits of its own design. The knives are made of high-quality Canadian steel and feature carbide tips for additional durability. Adaptation kits are available for models from almost all combine harvester manufacturers, including Rostselmash.

High-quality flaxseed grinding? No problem!

Redekop's self-sharpening serrated knives with carbide tips are designed specifically for chopping crop residues from difficult crops like flax and hemp. Like standard straight-ground knives, they are compatible with virtually any modern combine harvester.
